Guitar, Music Theory, Improvisation, New Horizons Blues Band, Rock Ensembles, and The Summer Rock Workshop (B.A. in Music Theory and Composition, University of New Hampshire)

Chris WeismanChris was raised by a musical family in the Seacoast area and though his first instrument was the alto saxophone, in his early teens he was inspired by the Beatles which led to guitar, piano, singing, writing and recording. At the University of New Hampshire he focused his energy on jazz guitar and writing for improvisational contexts as well as on his theory and composition degree. After a post-college phase of more songwriting and recording - solo and with Clov (www.clovmusic.com) - in 2005 Chris began exploring composing and improvising with limite pitch collections derived from nonmusical sources such as visual patterns on the guitar neck (Nonmusical Patterns) and the alphabet (My Alphabet). His first book, "Nonmusical Patterns and Their Musical Uses" is completed and in the process of being published by Radical Readout Press. Chris has recently appeared on two releases by the band Ben & Vesper - "More Questions" (2006) and "All This Could Kill You" (2007, Sounds Familyre Records) - and also appears on his brother Kurt Weisman's "More is More" (2006, Mad Monk) and "Spiritual Sci-Fi", set to be released this fall on Important Records.
