PMAC Expands Art and Music Programs for Fall 2011; World-Class Faculty Grows
August 22, 2011, PORTSMOUTH, NH—The Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC) is expanding its program offerings this fall, serving more community members than ever before. “Whether you are a beginner, amateur or well on your way to becoming a professional musician, artist or writer,” explains PMAC Executive Director Russ Grazier, “PMAC has a program for you.” Registration for fall lessons, classes and ensembles has begun with the fall session beginning on Tuesday, September 6.
Well known in the seacoast for its youth orchestra, teen rock bands, jazz bands for all ages, youth fine arts classes and adult ensembles, PMAC has recently expanded its curriculum to include creative writing courses and more diverse music and art offerings for all ages. The world-class faculty continues to grow with the addition of classical pianist Michelle Enos, jazz composer, pianist and drummer Jonny Peiffer, and writing instructor Michelle Samdperil. “Our faculty features nearly 30 professional artist educators from a wide variety of creative disciplines,” says Grazier, co-founder of the school. “We strive to offer the best in arts education and as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit we work to make the programs accessible to all through an extensive financial aid program that provides tuition assistance to families in need.”
Beginning in September, PMAC will offer a portfolio development class for high school art students, adult beginner drawing and watercolor classes, more teen rock bands than ever before, a new beginner band for adults who have never played an instrument, several creative writing classes for adults including a seminar on writing short stories, and music therapy sessions for students with disabilities. PMAC will continue to serve hundreds of students in private music and art lessons and is seeking adult instrumentalists for the New Horizons Band (especially trombones!), Blues Band, and Brewery Lane Big Band.
