Field Notes is a work-in-progress series inviting audiences to experience and participate in the development of The Adventures
of Oliver Z. Wanderkook. The work chronicles the adventures of the mythical adventurer and his discovery of nine tribes in The Land of The Two Suns.
Jonny Peiffer is a PMAC faculty pianist and composer. Peiffer created the Wanderkook Project in 2007. It is comprised of a series of compositions for solo piano that helped tell the tale of the fictional explorer Oliver Z. Wanderkook. Peiffer has since orchestrated that score for the jazz septet Sojoy. Wanderkook's Field Notes on Music will showcase the original piano compositions and how they came to be. His music is inspired by the music of Cuba, Brazil, Middle Eastern and Jazz traditions, and composers such as Scott Joplin, Darius Milhaud, Hermeto Pascoal, Ignacio Cervantes, Ernesto Lecuona, Federico Mompou, Henry Mancini, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin. The history of the Wanderkook Project is a tale all it's own.
Christos Vayenas (cvayenas.com) is a pianist, composer and improvisor inspired by the great Romantic composers of the past, while pursuing a style all his own. Vayenas is a meditation guide and explores the many sensory and experiential aspects of music and sound. He is the founder and director of The Autumn Salon (theautumnsalon.com) which conducts conversations with an international community of artists dedicated to the principles of timeless beauty, creativity, and authenticity within the arts and everyday life.
